Disclaimer

Last updated: 30 August 2026

This Disclaimer applies to the Travel Safely RSA mobile application, the Business Portal website at www.travelsafelyrsa.co.za, and all content displayed within these services. Please read it carefully before using the platform.

1. Community-Generated Safety Markers

Safety markers, incident reports, ratings, and comments displayed on Travel Safely RSA are submitted voluntarily by members of the public. They are not independently verified, fact-checked, or endorsed by the developers. The accuracy, completeness, currency, and reliability of this information cannot be guaranteed. Conditions on South African roads change rapidly; a marker that was accurate at the time of submission may no longer reflect current reality.

The app is available for download worldwide, but safety markers may currently only be placed at locations within South Africa. Marker submissions outside South Africa are not permitted and will be rejected.

1A. Route Hazard Notifications

If you switch on hazard alerts for a saved route, the app may notify you when a community member adds a caution, unsafe, accident, or roadworks marker on or near that route. These alerts are built entirely from the same unverified community markers described above and are matched and delivered automatically. They may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, sent about a marker that is no longer relevant, or not delivered at all — for example if your device is offline or notifications are disabled at the operating-system level. Do not rely on receiving (or not receiving) an alert. They are a convenience feature, not a safety guarantee, and never a substitute for staying alert to your surroundings.

1B. Community-Suggested Places

Some City Guide entries are marked as a “community suggestion”. These are places proposed by app users and approved by an administrator on a best-effort basis. They carry only a name, category, and address, are not verified with the business, and may be inaccurate, out of date, or no longer operating. Each such listing can be reported from within the app.

2. Not a Substitute for Official Advice

Travel Safely RSA is a supplementary community tool only. It does not replace:

Always comply with the National Road Traffic Act and exercise your own independent judgement before making any travel or safety decision.

3. No Liability for Decisions Made

The developers of Travel Safely RSA accept no responsibility whatsoever for any loss, injury, accident, fatality, property damage, or other harm arising directly or indirectly from:

Use of the platform and any decisions based on its content are entirely at your own risk.

4. Route and Navigation Information

Route suggestions, estimated travel times, distances, and navigation guidance provided by the app are for general reference only. They are derived from third-party mapping data (Google Maps Platform) and community-reported conditions. Road closures, detours, hazards, and safety situations can change without notice. Always verify current conditions through official channels and obey all road signs and traffic signals.

5. Business Listings and Reviews

Business listings displayed in the City Guide are provided either by the businesses themselves via the Business Portal, sourced from publicly available mapping data, or suggested by app users and approved by an administrator. Travel Safely RSA:

Any transactions or interactions you enter into with businesses found through the platform are solely between you and the relevant business. We are not a party to such arrangements.

6. Business Portal and Subscription Services

The Business Portal and related subscription service are provided on an “as available” basis. We do not warrant that the portal will be continuously available, error-free, or free from interruption. Where service interruption is caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control (including but not limited to hosting outages, force majeure events, or third-party service failures), we shall not be liable for any resulting loss of business exposure or revenue during the affected period. Subscription fees are not automatically refunded for planned or unplanned downtime of less than 72 consecutive hours.

7. External Links

The platform may display links to external websites, business websites, or social media profiles. We have no control over the content, privacy practices, or availability of external sites and accept no responsibility for them. The inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.

8. Availability of the Platform

We strive to keep the app and website available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The platform may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, updates, technical faults, or events beyond our control. We will endeavour to provide advance notice of planned maintenance where possible.

9. No Professional Advice

Nothing on this platform constitutes legal, financial, medical, or professional safety advice. Information is provided for general informational and community-benefit purposes only.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with the platform — whether in contract, delict, statute, or otherwise — shall not exceed the total subscription fees (if any) paid by you to us in the 3 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Where you are a free app user, our aggregate liability is limited to R100.
